Last night’s Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner turned into something more than a community event for us — it felt like a long-overdue date night.
When you have a two-year-old, a quiet evening out together starts to feel like a vacation. Between snack negotiations, bedtime routines, and the daily chaos that comes with toddler life, it’s easy to slip into “tag-team mode” instead of actually connecting. So getting dressed up, sitting at a table without a booster seat, and having uninterrupted adult conversation? That’s gold.
The dinner itself was a great reminder of why we love being part of this community. Hearing local leaders share wins, plans, and big ideas for Wayne County was energizing. There’s something special about being in a room full of people who genuinely care about where we live and work. It made us feel proud — and hopeful — about the direction our community is heading.
But the best part of the night was the simple chance to be intentional with each other. No dishes in the sink calling our names. No cartoons playing in the background. Just time to talk, laugh, and remember we’re not only parents — we’re partners, too. Sometimes all it takes is one evening out to reconnect and come home a little more grounded, a little more grateful, and a lot more in sync.
