Lee Behnken’s spiritual journey began early in life and was deeply rooted in Christian devotion. Raised in a tradition-rich German-American Lutheran environment, he committed his life wholly to Jesus near the end of his college years, a turning point that marked the start of his lifelong ministry. Ordained through the Evangelical Church Alliance in 1996, Behnken’s ministry has spanned decades — from Bible studies and prayer ministries to church outreach and prison ministry, as well as international worship leadership.
His global ministry experiences include leading worship in countries like China, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Israel, and even performing on national television in Wuhan, China.
From Scripture to Song: The Vision Behind Song of All Songs
The Song of Songs — also known as the Song of Solomon — is one of the Bible’s most poetic books, traditionally interpreted in Christianity as an allegory of Christ’s love for His people. Behnken’s creative vision was born from a pastor-led study on ancient worship patterns and the significance of sacred spaces like the Tabernacle. It was during a mission trip to Asia that a friend’s remark — “The Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies” — profoundly shifted his perspective and sparked a deep engagement with the text.
Over several years, this calling grew into Song of All Songs, a project that translates Song of Songs into a musical and devotional experience, with each song reflecting a specific verse from the eight-chapter biblical book.
