Meet Lee Behnken: The Man Behind 80 Songs Inspired by the Song of Songs

Lee Behnken

Breaking new ground in worship music with a verse-by-verse devotional journey through Scripture

In an era where faith-driven art increasingly seeks new avenues of meaning and connection, Christian recording artist Lee Behnken has drawn widespread attention with an unprecedented musical undertaking: Song of All Songs — an eight-album, 80-song project based on the book of Song of Songs from the Bible.

A Lifetime Shaped by Faith and Music

Lee Behnken’s spiritual journey began early in life and was deeply rooted in Christian devotion. Raised in a tradition-rich German-American Lutheran environment, he committed his life wholly to Jesus near the end of his college years, a turning point that marked the start of his lifelong ministry. Ordained through the Evangelical Church Alliance in 1996, Behnken’s ministry has spanned decades — from Bible studies and prayer ministries to church outreach and prison ministry, as well as international worship leadership.

His global ministry experiences include leading worship in countries like China, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Israel, and even performing on national television in Wuhan, China.

From Scripture to Song: The Vision Behind Song of All Songs

The Song of Songs — also known as the Song of Solomon — is one of the Bible’s most poetic books, traditionally interpreted in Christianity as an allegory of Christ’s love for His people. Behnken’s creative vision was born from a pastor-led study on ancient worship patterns and the significance of sacred spaces like the Tabernacle. It was during a mission trip to Asia that a friend’s remark — “The Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies” — profoundly shifted his perspective and sparked a deep engagement with the text.

Over several years, this calling grew into Song of All Songs, a project that translates Song of Songs into a musical and devotional experience, with each song reflecting a specific verse from the eight-chapter biblical book.

A Musical and Spiritual Journey

Song of All Songs is not just music. It’s an immersive devotion that combines original worship melodies, rich lyrical imagery, and spiritual reflection designed to foster a deeper relationship with God. Each of the eight albums corresponds to a chapter in Song of Songs, with ten songs per album — amounting to a total of 80 songs.

Listeners can expect everything from intimate worship tunes to expansive, orchestral-style arrangements — all aimed at drawing believers closer to the heart of God. Behnken’s intent is clear: to help others encounter God’s love personally and transformatively through Scripture set to song.

More Than Music: A Devotional Companion

In addition to the musical release, Song of All Songs includes a companion study guide and workbook, making the project equally suitable for personal devotion and group study. These tools encourage daily reflection, journaling, and deeper engagement with the themes and verses behind each song.

A Global Release

Released in 2025, the Song of All Songs series is now available worldwide for streaming and download — inviting audiences across cultures and generations to explore this immersive biblical worship experience.

With this milestone project, Lee Behnken is redefining how Scripture can be experienced musically: not simply as a text to study, but as a song to live by. In doing so, he opens a new frontier in faith-infused art — one that resonates with the heart as much as the ears and invites every listener into the profound mystery of divine love.
